Regan goes to Hartford

Today we wrapped up our 2-day trip to Hartford, CT with tours of the Capitol Building and the Old Statehouse.  Our 1 hour tour for three of the Capitol Building turned into a 2-hour tour for 8 when a former State Senator, Billy Ciotto, three people from Australia and outgoing Rep. Joe Mioli, joined our tour.

Our unofficial tour guides ended up taking over, making a point of learning our names, ("Colleen: a good Irish name"), taking photos like this one of us in the House chamber and getting us into places like the Democratic Caucus Room and the Lt. Governor's Office,  places not on the normal tour.

As Sen. Ciotto told us, "This isn't Political Science 101, this is the real McCoy!"

After our tour of the Old State House, we took Regan to Bushnell Park, where we discovered that the inventor of anesthesia is from Hartford, something both Colleen and Regan can now appreciate!

A lot of people gave us a hard time about our trip to Harford ("Why would you want to go there?")  It was a small city (the nice part of downtown was only a few streets long), but there's also a lot of history there, and I'm glad I went.  Plus this means that I can cross another state (CT) off my state list! -- POSTED BY COLLEEN

I have been waiting since August for an update to see how Regan has grown and she has! Looks like you were in the right spot at the right time for an awesome tour of the state buildings, too!
