October 17, 2008

Today Jon and Colleen went to Letchworth State Park. Upon brother Charlie's suggestion, they started at the Mount Morris end and worked their way from North to South to the Portageville exit. Both Jon and Colleen were in awe about how empty it was on the south side of the Mount Morris Dam, learning that the dam is rarely used (although it certainly would be used during the Flood of '72, a video of which we saw later on at the museum). Colleen liked this stop as well as the Tea Table and Wolf Creek turn-offs (where we saw the "Shower Curtain.") At the dam, there was also a very random, very large chair. Two people stopped us at different points at this stop and offered to take our picture before then getting scared at our 35 mm cameras, with one asking if she could see the picture, to which we replied, "No, it's not digital."On the South end, after we went to the museum, we hit the Upper and Middle Falls, the Middle Falls being the best as there was major sun glare around 4 in the afternoon at the Upper Falls, and the Middle Falls had a rainbow. Plus, we could get really close. After the park, it was home for salad, lasagna and Day 2 of "Bye, Bye, Birdie." -- POSTED BY COLLEEN
