The only really thing significant on this day happened on the way to the airport. As luck would have it, it timed out so that we were in the car for Hour 1 of Santa taking kids' calls. Unfortunately, this only happened on the quarter hours, despite being told we'd hear from him again "a little past 6." We soon realized that Santa would say, "Is anything else on your list?" when he couldn't tell what they were saying, and that he'd asked if Mom or Dad had been consulted for truly out there gifts. (A tool bench, for example, he quickly consented to being able to provide.) He would then close with telling them, "I'll see you Christmas Eve" with an occasional, "How are you doing in school?" thrown in. Inexplicable, though, was an apparent 12-year-old called for a computer, saying everyone at school had one. Santa asked if he had talked to Mom or Dad about it, and he said they said to "ask Santa." -- POSTED BY COLLEEN
